1. Trim the Wick: Before lighting, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch. This helps ensure a clean burn and prevents the flame from becoming too large.
2. First Burn is Important: The first time you light your candle, allow it to burn until the wax pool melts to the edge of the container across the top. This process, achieving a full melt pool, can take a few hours and helps prevent tunneling (where the candle burns down the middle, leaving wax on the sides).
3. Burn Time: Do not burn the candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Extensive burning can cause the container to get too hot and potentially pose a hazard.
4. Avoid Drafts: Light your candle in a well-ventilated room, away from drafts, vents, or air currents. This will help prevent rapid or uneven burning and sooting.
5. Keep an Eye Out: Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep the candle within sight to avoid any accidents.
